Hunters and Fishermen against the Lead Ban in Europe

The event was conceived in response to the European Commission’s proposal for a total ban on lead in ammunition and fishing gear, introduced last February through a delegated act – and thus without Parliament’s involvement – which has drawn strong criticism for both the procedure adopted and the measure’s ideological rather than scientific foundations.

“Banning lead altogether would not bring any real benefit to the environment or to human health,” stated Mr. Fiocchi, “but would instead strike a heavy blow to sectors such as hunting, fishing, and sport shooting, which are already being tested by restrictive and unjustified regulations. Once again, we find ourselves opposing ideological decisions with concrete data and in-depth technical analysis.”
